Uganda stun Zambia in COSAFA U20 opener

Striker Muhammad Shaban scored a brace as East African guests Uganda stunned holders and hosts Zambia 2-0 in their Group A opener at the 2017 Mopani Copper Mines COSAFA Under-20 Championships in Kitwe on Wednesday.

Uganda were deserved winners over the African champions, who have a new-look side this year as they build towards the defence of their title in the 2019 African Youth Championships.

The Young Chipolopolo certainly had their chances, but were undone by Shaban's double-strike in the second...

Zambia keen on recruiting Chelsea wonderkid Charly Musonda - Nyirenda

Wedson Nyirenda is eager to add Belgium-born Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda to his Zambia squad as he looks to build a formidable unit ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nyirenda has overseen an impressive transformation for the national side since taking charge back in September, and has discarded some of the squad's elder statesmen in favour of the country's next generation of stars.

The bold move has sparked a startling revival in fortunes for Chipolopolo, who finished a credible second...

Resurgent Chipolopolo target Afcon place

Zambia completed their FIFA 2018 World Cup campaign with another fine showing in a 2-2 draw at home to Cameroon last Saturday, and coach Wedson Nyirenda is confident his team can consolidate their resurgence in the forthcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations engagements.

Zambia have endured a barren spell since conquering the continent back in 2012, but the emergence of an exciting crop of young players has sparked a revival, which saw the southern Africans emerge with their reputation enhanced from...

Yaya Banana headed home a stoppage-time equaliser as Cameroon ended their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-2 draw in Zambia.

Brian Mwila had bagged a delicious goal in the 64th minute to give Zambia the lead for the second time, but Banana denied the hosts victory when he headed home from close range following a corner.

Both sides were already out of the running for Russia ahead of Saturday's clash in Ndola, but with the pressure off, they served up an entertaining encounter.

Patson Daka...

FIFA snub Zambia's request for Nigeria replay

FIFA have rebuffed the Zambia Football Association's request for a review of the officiating during their national team's away World Cup qualifier against Nigeria played on October 7 2017.

Zambia, who lost the game 1-0 to bow out of the qualifying race for the Russia World Cup, appealed to FIFA to review the performance of Botswanan referee Joshua Bondo in the game which took place in Uyo.

Zambia succumbed to Alex Iwobi's strike late on, but they were unhappy that Bondo ruled their 23rd-minute effort...
