Ukraine FA offers job to Croatian coach sacked after win over Russia

The Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) has offered a job to the member of Croatia's coaching staff sacked for dedicating his country's World Cup victory over Russia to the people of Ukraine.

Ognjen Vukojevic, a coaching assistant and former Croatia international, posted a video on social media in which he and defender Domagoj Vida dedicated the win to Ukraine.

Ukraine has a long-running political conflict with Russia, which centres on the disputed territory of Crimea, and Vukojevic said on the...

FIFA Facebook page inundated with messages from angry Ukraine fans

Ukraine supporters have flooded FIFA's Facebook page with over 158,000 comments, most saying "Glory to Ukraine," after Croatia's assistant coach was fined for a video in which he used the same slogan.

FIFA hit Ognjen Vukojevic with a $15,000 fine and a warning for posting the clip, which also included Croatian defender Domagoj Vida, after they beat Russia in their World Cup quarterfinal on Saturday.

Both men have played for Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev. Croatia's Football Federation later sacked...

Ukrainian goalkeeper sacked for supporting Russia World Cup win apologises

ESPN's Ian Darke reminisces over the 1998 World Cup where hosts France triumphed over Brazil.

Ukrainian goalkeeper Mikhail Gotra has apologised after having his contract with FC Karpaty terminated for cheering on Russia on his Instagram page.

Gotra, 18, posted a Russia flag, accompanied by the word "bravo!" and a photoshopped image of himself with a moustache, contributing to a viral campaign originated in Russia in support of the national head coach Stanislav Cherchesov.

"I've been giving my all to sports all my conscious life," Gotra said in a post on Instagram. "I've always stayed away...

Andriy Yarmolenko won't fill Ousmane Dembele's boots at Borussia Dortmund

Andriy Yarmolenko's €25 million to Borussia Dortmund set a new record transfer fee for a sale by Dynamo Kiev, beating the €23m the club collected for Andriy Shevchenko when he moved to AC Milan in 1999.

That is flattering in the extreme, of course, though Yarmolenko only managed to equal the overall Ukrainian transfers record. It belongs to none other than Dmytro Chygrynskiy, bought by Barcelona from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2009.

Chygrynskiy is now rightfully considered one of Pep Guardiola's...

Mourinho denies reports of scouting trip to Croatia: 'I have no hidden cause'

Jose Mourinho did not attend Friday's match between Croatia and Ukraine in a scouting capacity, the Manchester United boss says. Instead, he was there to soak up the sunshine.

The United manager was in Zagreb for Croatia's 1-0 win in World Cup qualifying -- a result which saw them retain their place atop the Group I table.

His visit elicited suggestions he was on hand to meet with the representatives of Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic, who did not play due to suspension.

Was Jose Mourinho in Croatia in search of talent?

However Mourinho denied...
