KCCA triumph offers belief to Ugandan football - Desabre

Uganda head coach Sebastien Desabre believes that KCCA FC's shock victory over Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League on Tuesday should convince the nation's teams that they can beat anyone.

The Ugandan champions defeated the eight-time African champions 2-0 in a Group A clash in Namboole following goals from Ibrahim Saddam Juma and Denis Timothy Awany.

Ahly win proves KCCA can handle Africa's best - Mutebi

KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi believes that his side's victory over Egyptian giants Al Ahly on Tuesday proved that they can hold their own against Africa's best.

The Ugandan champions beat the Cairene heavyweights 2-0 in a CAF Champions League Group A clash at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole thanks to goals from Ibrahim Saddam Juma and skipper Denis Timothy Awany.

KCCA had lost their opening group game 1-0 against Botswana's Township Rollers.

"This is a very sweet win because my boys have...

Uganda referees accused of match fixing

Ali Waiswa, the Vice Chairman of the Ugandan Referees Standing Committee, has alleged to KweséESPN that Super League officials are fixing matches.

Waiswa, the assistant to committee chairman Ronnie Kalema, has revealed that referees in the division have reportedly been approaching club officials in order to secure financial incentives to influence games.

"What's currently going on is very unfortunate, because we have some referees who have been suspended by the Federation of Uganda Football...

KCCA FC counting on in-form Muhammad Shaban vs. Township Rollers

KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi is counting on wonderkid Muhammad Shaban to continue his recent hot streak when the Ugandan champions face Township Rollers FC in their CAF Champions League group-stage opener on Friday.

Shaban struck against his former club Onduparaka FC last month, and also netted four goals in the 7-2 demolition of URA FC and a double in the 3-2 defeat by Vipers FC to establish himself as KCCA's chief attacking threat ahead of their trip to Botswana.

"It is good that Shaban has got his...

How can East Africa compete with the rest of the continent?

While East Africa's nations have enjoyed great success in other sporting disciplines, the region's national football teams have largely failed to make a mark on the continent's soccer scene.

Kenya and Ethiopia have a plethora of elite long and middle-distance runners, Rwanda has its cycling sensations., Uganda boasts of a thriving motosports scene, while even South Sudan's roster of basketball stars grows every year.

East Africa is as sports mad and trophy-hungry as the rest of the continent, but...
