Philippines' defender Carli de Murga was on target in the 3-2 win against East Timor.

Thailand's Korrakot Wiriyaudomsiri scored direct from a corner as the holders beat Indonesia 4-2 in the AFF Suzuki Cup on Saturday, while Sven-Goran Eriksson notched up his second win in a row as Philippines coach.

Korrakot curled in his left-foot effort to cancel out Zulfiandi's long-range opener for Indonesia before delivering a free kick in first half injury time from which Pansa Hemviboon gave the defending champions the lead.

Sven-Goran Eriksson starts Philippines stint with win in AFF Cup

Sven-Goran Eriksson started his stint as Philippines head coach with a 1-0 win over Singapore in their AFF Suzuki Cup opener on Tuesday evening.

The former England manager was appointed last month to lead Philippines through the AFF Suzuki Cup before taking the Azkals to their first appearance at the finals of the Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates in January.
