South Korea, Japan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Australia looking to January's Asian Cup

Asia's five teams are all home from Russia, but January's 2019 Asian Cup already looms large on the horizon.

Here's a look at lessons all the AFC nations learned from the 2018 World Cup and what needs to be done in the coming weeks and months.

South Korea

Despite the stunning 2-0 win against Germany, South Korea's World Cup was a disappointment. There were some positives with the Taeguk Warriors, however.

First and foremost, the team have their No. 1 for the Asian Cup and perhaps years to come....

Why Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia have struggled at the 2018 World Cup

VOLGOGRAD -- Russia 2018 has not been a great World Cup for the Arab world with all four representatives -- Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Saudi Arabia -- losing their first two games and crashing out with a game to spare.

While there was some pride restored on Monday, the collective campaign is a tale of bad luck, bad finishing and a lack of experience at the highest level.

In their final Group B game, Morocco (by some distance the best performer of the quartet) gave Spain a scare by going ahead twice...

Saudi Arabia stepped up pace to grab late win over Egypt - Juan Antonio Pizzi

A half-time pep talk and a step-up in pace were key to Saudi Arabia's last-gasp World Cup win over Egypt on Monday, coach Juan Antonio Pizzi has said.

Pizzi's side scored in the 95th minute to win 2-1 and end the tournament on a high despite both sides failing to progress from Group A.

"We thought if we were able to speed up the pace, we would have more opportunities and that is what we told our players," he told reporters.

"We told them they had to be stronger on attack ... we also played very well...

Saudi Arabia scored a dramatic 95th-minute winner to beat Egypt 2-1 and finish their World Cup campaign on a high in Volgograd.

Egypt took the lead in the 22nd minute as Mohamed Salah scored a delightful goal, his second of the tournament. Abdallah El Said played a long ball over the top and Salah needed just two touches, the second lifting it past Yasser Al-Mosailem.

It could have been two just a couple of minutes later when Trezeguet sent Salah clean through, but his chipped finish went horribly...

World Cup LIVE: Spain and Portugal in danger; Uruguay beat Russia

It's day 12 of the World Cup and Anthony Richardson and Ian Fiveankles have quite a jam-packed day, with phone calls and YouTubers and much, much more!

Spain and Portugal can't afford to lose or they could miss out on the knockout stages from Group B. Earlier, Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani scored as Uruguay beat hosts Russia 3-0 to take Group A's top spot. Mo Salah scored for Egypt but Saudi Arabia won 2-1, with only pride at stake.
