Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio gives Giovani dos Santos and players fitness deadline

After Mexico's preliminary World Cup roster was announced, Herc Gomez talks about which players he wouldn't take to Russia.

LOS ANGELES -- Giovani dos Santos returned from injury on Friday in L.A. Galaxy's 1-0 victory over San Jose and will have until June 2 to prove he is fully fit to be included in Mexico's World Cup squad.

Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio was at StubHub Center to watch the "California Clasico," with Jonathan dos Santos playing the full 90 minutes and Giovani coming on for the final 15 minutes in his first game since May 6.

Mexico's Javier Hernandez says manager Juan Carlos Osorio 'like a genius'

LOS ANGELES -- Javier Hernandez called Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio a "genius" at a training session on Friday, but believes a number of factors will have to come together if El Tri is going to have a good World Cup.

The West Ham striker, in southern California ahead of a pre-World Cup friendly against Wales on Monday, was asked what it was like to work under the Colombian and the respect was clear.

"It's a great experience," Hernandez told reporters.. "Apart from being a great human being, he's...

U.S.-led World Cup bid denies $10bn revenue projections optimistic - report

Martin Ainstein undergoes an unforgettable experience in Moscow as he visits the Russian Cosmonaut Training Center during his tour of World Cup host cities.

The North American bid for the 2026 World Cup is standing by its record-breaking profit projections among suggestions the figures do not stack up, sources close to the bid told Press Association, and believe its estimates are, if anything, on the conservative side.

Canada, Mexico and the United States have teamed up to form the front-running United 2026 bid and, while the contest has narrowed in recent weeks, it remains the marginal favourite over Morocco's bid for the 48-team tournament.

Mexico can beat Germany in 2018 World Cup opener - Carlos Vela

Progressing from the last six World Cup group stages, Mexico have no issues starting the tournament well, but can they progress in the knockout stages in Russia?
Major League Soccer: Carlos Vela (74') Portland Timbers 1-1 LAFC
After Mexico's preliminary World Cup roster was announced, Herc Gomez talks about which players he wouldn't take to Russia.

Mexico's Carlos Vela believes that on his national team's best day they can beat anyone in the world, even prohibitive Group F favorites Germany.

Vela, 29, chose not to play for El Tri at the World Cup four years ago, but says he is determined to make Russia 2018 count if he makes the cut for Juan Carlos Osorio's final 23-man squad.

The LAFC striker rejoined the national team fold in November 2014 and has been in solid form of late, netting seven goals in his first 11 games since joining MLS from...

United States to face Mexico in Sept. 11 friendly in Nashville

Christian Pulisic speaks from Dortmund, Germany, about his plans to play with the USA in the upcoming match against Bolivia in Pennsylvania.

The United States men's national team will host Mexico in a friendly in Nashville on Sept. 11.

ESPN FC reported last month that the U.S. was finalizing deals to play Brazil and Mexico during the September international window, and the game against El Tri was confirmed on Thursday. It will air on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. ET.

The U.S. has played at Nissan Stadium five times since 2006, most recently in a 1-1 draw against Panama at the 2017 Gold Cup in front of 47,622 fans. The NFL venue will also host games...
