Wanyama and Kenya go out of ANC

Kenya stripped of hosting African Nations Championship after 'delays'

Kenya will be replaced as hosts within two weeks.

Kenya has been stripped of the right to host the 2018 African Nations Championship.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) cited "accumulated delays" in the country's preparations for the tournament, the continental championship for players playing in their home leagues.

CAF made the decision to take the tournament away from Kenya at an executive committee meeting in Accra, Ghana, on Saturday, and opened the bidding process for a new host on Sunday.

Former Man City target McDonald Mariga could have been a success in England, says brother Victor Wanyama

Victor Wanyama believes his brother McDonald Mariga could have been a big hit in English football if he'd secured a move to the Premier League earlier in his career.

Victor Wanyama has conceded that it's 'painful' to not be taking part in Africa's World Cup qualifiers this week, but is optimistic that Stanley Okumbi is the man to lead Kenya back among the continent's elite.

The Harambee Stars dispatched Mauritius 5-2 on aggregate in the first round of CAF's World Cup qualifying programme, but a 2-1 defeat by Cape Verde over two legs in the second round - despite an opening 1-0 win in Nairobi - cost the East African heavyweights a spot in the ongoing group stage.

Wanyama uncertain for Premier League opener, says Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino is hopeful that Victor Wanyama will be available for Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League opener against Newcastle United after picking up a preseason injury.

The Kenya international picked up an injury in Spurs' 4-2 International Champions Cup victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.

He missed Tuesday's 3-2 defeat by AS Roma, and the 3-0 loss against Manchester City on Saturday to add to Tottenham's less-than-convincing preseason.

However, speaking after the defeat by City,...
