Musa Barrow: The Gambian wonderkid rivalling Kylian Mbappe

It will come as little surprise to the majority of football fans that the youngest player to have been directly involved in six or more goals in all competitions in Europe's major leagues so far this term is Kylian Mbappe.

Gambia appoint Saintfiet as new coach

Journeyman Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet has signed as the new coach of African side Gambia, who he hopes to take to the 2019 African Nations Cup finals.

Saintfiet has been given a nine-month contract, up to the end of the qualifiers for the continental showpiece, where he will be reunited with one of his former sides, Togo.

Gambia lost their opener 1-0 to Benin and are next in action against group favourites Algeria in September.

Gambian winger Modou Barrow joins Reading

Reading have completed the signing of Swansea City's Modou Barrow, signing the Gambian wideman on a four-year deal.

Barrow joined Swansea from Ostersunds FK in 2014, but struggled to establish himself at the Liberty Stadium and moves to Reading for an undisclosed fee, according to the Royals' official website.

Bizarrely, the Berkshire club opted to unveil Barrow with a video which included a wheelbarrow unloading a heap of Carabao cans onto the side of the Madejski Stadium pitch.

Hamburg sign 18-year-old Gambian refugee Bakery Jatta

Bakery Jatta has already been training with Hamburg.

Hamburg have signed Gambian refugee Bakery Jatta on a three-year contract.

Jatta turned 18 a week ago, which allowed him to sign a professional deal. He already had been training with the first team.

Jatta fled his homeland in 2015 and arrived in northern Germany via Italy. He joined a football academy in Bremen and convinced Hamburg's staff to trial him.

He can play in several attacking positions. Jatta says he had never played in a club before.

Senegal and Egypt win to secure African Nations Cup qualification

Liverpool star man Mohamed Salah will represent Egypt at this summer's World Cup.
Mohamed Salah scored twice as Egypt booked their place at the African Nations Cup.

Egypt and Senegal qualified for the African Nations Cup thanks to wins against Tanzania and Burundi.

First-half goals from Premier League duo Sadio Mane and Mame Biram Diouf sealed a 2-0 win for Senegal at Burundi and ensured they will win Group K, having won five games from five, scoring 11 times and conceding just twice.

The other game in that group saw Namibia run out 1-0 winners against Niger with Peter Shalulile's 15th-minute goal settling the game.
