Germany down 14 places in FIFA's world rankings; France up to No. 1

Manuel Neuer insists despite the stressing nature of Germany's World Cup exit, the playing group must move on.
Former West Germany striker Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes Germany's preparation was not up to scratch ahead of the World Cup.

Germany's exit in the group stage of the World Cup has seen them plummet to 15th in FIFA's world rankings -- their lowest position in more than a decade.

The defending World Cup champions entered the competition No. 1 in the rankings, but they failed to reach the knockout rounds and made their earliest exit from the tournament in 80 years.

They were ranked No. 22 in March 2006 but finished the year ranked No. 6 after finishing third at the World Cup.

France are top of the rankings after winning...

Paris Saint-Germain extend Presnel Kimpembe's contract until 2023

Neymar, Adrien Rabiot and Tim Weah took advantage of Caen's defensive lapses to give Paris Saint-Germain a win to kick off their Ligue 1 title defense.
PSG boss Thomas Tuchel reveals he's spoken to Edinson Cavani, who quashed talk that he's set to leave the French capital.

Paris Saint-Germain have secured the services of defender Presnel Kimpembe for the next five years with a new contract until 2023.

The 23-year-old was rewarded with the new deal on his birthday and a month after he helped France to World Cup success in Russia.

Kimpembe, a youth academy graduate, was already under contract until 2021, but was delighted to add two more years to his deal.

"I am incredibly fortunate to be able to wear my club's shirt," Kimpembe said. "This contract extension is proof...

Man United's Paul Pogba marks France World Cup win with stars in his hair

Paul Pogba had two stars painted into his hair to mark France's second World Cup win
Paul Pogba marked France's World Cup victory in his own inimitable style.

Paul Pogba is set to kick off the new domestic season with a brand new haircut that reflects his truly momentous summer of international football.

After helping propel France to a second World Cup triumph out in Russia, Pogba has gone and had Les Bleus' two stars daubed onto the back of his head.

In somewhat unorthodox fashion, Pogba appears to have produced a movie-style trailer for his new haircut, which he duly shared on Instagram.

"Back home with the two stars," the 25-year-old wrote.

Samir Nasri doping ban extended to 18 months after UEFA appeal

Samir Nasri has had his doping ban increased from six to 18 months after a UEFA appeal.

NYON, Switzerland -- Former Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has had his doping ban increased to 18 months following an appeal against the original six-month sanction, European football's governing body UEFA has said.

The Frenchman was handed the original suspension in February after UEFA found the 31-year-old "guilty of using a prohibited method in accordance with the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) prohibited list."

The former France international's lawyer had said Nasri was sanctioned for...
