Manchester United hire Casey Stoney as women's team coach

Casey Stoney

MANCHESTER, England -- Casey Stoney's appointment as Manchester United women's head coach shows the club's desire to see the new team succeed, according to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Stoney, who won 130 England caps, will lead United in next season's Women's Championship after the FA granted the club a licence.

It brought to an end United's 13-year absence from the senior women's game after the team was disbanded in 2005.

"Appointing Casey shows the desire we have to succeed and her experience...

England Women forward Eniola Aluko leaves Chelsea for Juventus

LONDON -- Juventus Women have bolstered their squad with the signing of Chelsea and England striker Eniola Aluko, the Italian champions announced on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old, who has 102 caps for the Lionesses, joins Juve having spent the past six years at English champions Chelsea, following an earlier spell with them between 2007 and 2009.

Aluko announced last month she would leave the Blues at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

She scored seven goals in all competitions last season as Chelsea...

Toni Duggan and Jodie Taylor lead England past stubborn Bosnia

Toni Duggan led England to victory.

Toni Duggan's 20th international goal sent England Women to the top of their World Cup qualifying group with a 2-0 win in Bosnia.

Barcelona forward Duggan prodded home Melissa Lawley's cross as England shrugged off Alex Greenwood's red card to prevail in Zenica.

Jodie Taylor's added-time penalty wrapped up a comfortable, albeit often frustrating, afternoon in front of goal on the road.

Bosnia had Amira Spahic sent off too in a staccato encounter, with Phil Neville's England faced with ultra-defensive...

England Women boss Phil Neville: 'We could actually win the World Cup'

England womens' coach Phil Neville with Alex Greenwood
Phil Neville has targeted a World Cup title for his England side.

England Women manager Phil Neville says coaching his country was better than anything else he has experienced in football -- and now the former Manchester United player wants to help the Lionesses rule the world.

Eyebrows were raised when the former Three Lions defender was appointed by the Football Association in January, but the 41-year-old has enjoyed a promising start to his time with the women's team.

An impressive 4-1 win against France was quite the start to a decent overall performance by...

UEFA report: England's Mark Sampson threatened official with pole

Former England women's coach Mark Sampson was being investigated for intimidating a female UEFA official with a metal pole at the 2017 European Championship before he was fired, the European governing body said on Friday.

UEFA revealed the details of the disciplinary case that led to Sampson being banned for three games for "insulting, aggressive and insistent actions," including profane abuse.

UEFA concluded its case on Sept. 21, the day after the English Football Association fired him for...
