Patrik Schick scored the game winner for the Czech Republic against Slovakia just three minutes after coming on as a second half substitute.

A late header by substitute Patrik Schick gave Czech Republic a 2-1 win over neighbouring Slovakia on Saturday, earning the visitors their first points in the Nations League.

Slovakia had squandered chances before the 22-year-old Roma forward provided the decisive moment in the 76th minute when he scored from captain Borek Dockal's cross.

The goal came minutes after Schick had replaced Michael Krmencik, who scored the first goal of the match after 52 minutes when he held off his marker and side-footed...

Czech Republic appoint Jaroslav Silhavy as new national team manager

Jaroslav Silhavy will take charge of the Czech Republic national team following the departure last week of Karel Jarolim, the country's Football Association said on Tuesday.

Silhavy, a former national team assistant who holds the record for domestic appearances as a player, won the league with Slovan Liberec and Slavia Prague as manager and was an assistant with the national team from 2001 to 2009.

The 56-year-old has managed seven Czech top flight teams since 2007 after a playing career in...

Czech Republic coach Karel Jarolim leaves by mutual consent following defeats

Russia had three players score their first national team goals, as it was party time for Russian fans all game long in Rostov-on-Don.
Manchester City's Oleksandr Zinchenko scored deep into stoppage time to give Ukraine the win over Czech Republic in the UEFA Nations League.

Karel Jarolim has left his position as coach of the Czech Republic, the Czech football association said on Tuesday.

The decision follows a 2-1 defeat at home by Ukraine in their UEFA Nations League opener last Thursday and a 5-1 thrashing by Russia in a friendly match on Monday.

The association said it would meet with new coaching candidates in the coming days.

Jarolim was appointed in July 2016 but failed to qualify Czech Republic for this year's World Cup.
