Italy, Uruguay, Ghana among 10 teams to get very similar away kits from Puma

With the World Cup beginning to crown on the horizon, Puma have released a flurry of new kits for the likes of Uruguay, Ghana and Switzerland.

While rival suppliers Adidas have been widely praised for their retro-infused offerings, Puma have opted to plough a more prosaic furrow.

Indeed, it looks like "very, very white" was the central design brief for all 10 shirts, with Italy, Senegal, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Czech Republic, Austria and Serbia also getting new looks.

According to the accompanying...

Australia and Cameroon catch Confederations Cup bug in Russia

ST PETERSBURG -- There were 35,021 spectators at the 68,000 capacity St Petersburg Arena on Thursday, but only a tiny percentage travelled from Cameroon and Australia.

Unsurprisingly, given that it is over 9,000 miles from Australia and over 3,500 from Cameroon, the "home" support for these countries at the Confederations Cup has been somewhat thin on the ground. But some intrepid fans did make the trip to see their teams play out a 1-1 draw that left both with a slim hope of reaching the semifinals...

Confederations Cup gives football chance to celebrate Marc-Vivien Foe

Cameroon will play in the Confederations Cup for the first time since 2003 -- a tournament forever remembered for the tragic death of Marc-Vivien Foe.

The midfielder was just 28 when he collapsed and died on the pitch in Lyon during a semifinal victory over Colombia.

He was later found to have suffered from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy -- a rare hereditary heart condition, which affects fewer than 0.2 percent of people.

Foe will be in the thoughts of many Cameroon players and supporters when they...

African Nations Cup concludes with magical final but plenty of questions

LIBREVILLE, Gabon -- Sport has a habit of forcing you into compromises. When Vincent Aboubakar volleyed in the most dramatic of tournament winners, doing it in the most raw and visceral of football atmospheres at Stade de L'Amitie, few people watching could say in good faith that they were not swept away by the moment. Cameroon's fifth Africa Cup of Nations title was surprising by any measure, a patchwork team of relative unknowns visibly growing in confidence and momentum to achieve something...

Cameroon take 2017 African Nations Cup crown as Aboubakar nets stunner

LIBREVILLE -- Three thoughts from Cameroon's 2-1 win over Egypt, which sees them crowned African Nations Cup champions.

1. Aboubakar's stunning goal gives Cameroon the title

Cameroon are African Nations Cup champions for the fifth time, and they could not have won a more unlikely title than this. Nobody gave Hugo Broos' remoulded side, missing a number of key players, a chance of coming home from Gabon with the trophy, but a brilliant 88th-minute volley from substitute Vincent Aboubakar turned this...

Ondoa vs. El-Hadary a microcosm of Cameroon vs. Egypt in AFCON final

You have to stretch the mind back only two years to recall an African Nations Cup final that became the tale of a goalkeeper; in that case, it was Ivory Coast's Boubacar Barry. This time around, it might well be a story of two. Five of the past nine finals have been settled by penalty shootouts, and if that is to be the fate of Sunday's meeting between Egypt and Cameroon, whoever is the hero will bring his own compelling narrative.

Between Egypt's posts will be Essam El-Hadary, the remarkable...
