Arsene Wenger: 'Determined' Sead Kolasinac will set tone for Arsenal

Arsenal's Arsene Wenger believes the transfer window should be closed before the start of the season to avoid playing the same players more than twice.

LONDON -- Arsene Wenger hopes the strength and physicality that new signing Sead Kolasinac brings to the team will set the tone for both his teammates and the Emirates crowd this season.

Kolasinac has made a flying start to life at Arsenal, scoring in the Community Shield and setting up a goal for Danny Welbeck in the opening Premier League win over Leicester. But the bulky defender's biggest impact may be the muscle he brings to a team that's often been accused of being too soft for the Premier...

Bosnia and Herzegovina FA to probe assistant coach over alleged punch

Bosnia and Herzegovina-Greece
Greece and Bosnia and Herzegovina came to blows in Friday's World Cup qualifier.

The Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina has said it will investigate assistant coach Stephane Gilli after he appeared to punch an opposing Greece player during an on-pitch brawl.

The incident happened following Friday's World Cup qualifier in Zenica, which ended in a 0-0 draw, with Bosnia's Edin Dzeko and Greece's Kostas Manolas -- teammates at Roma -- involved in a confrontation that led to a melee between the two sides.

Greece's Giannis Gianniotas appeared to race over to the brawl...

Spain defeat France with help of video replay while Italy beat Netherlands

The video assistant referee twice played an important role as Spain beat France 2-0 in a friendly in Paris on Tuesday.

FIFA is testing VARs ahead of their possible use at the World Cup, and the system ruled out a goal that had been given for France, and later overruled a linesman to grant Spain a goal.

Antoine Griezmann thought he had put France ahead in the second half, but after the goal was originally given, the VAR called down to the match referee and disallowed the goal for offside...

Netherlands in danger after loss as Ronaldo lifts Portugal, France win

Netherlands are in danger of failing to qualify for a second straight major tournament after losing 2-0 to Bulgaria in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

After finishing third at the 2014 World Cup, the Dutch missed out on Euro 2016 and now find themselves in fourth place midway through their campaign to reach Russia, six points off the lead in Group A and three back of a potential playoff spot.

Danny Blind handed a first cap to 17-year-old Matthijs de Ligt, but the centre-back misplayed a...

Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic to represent Bosnia-Herzegovina

Jozo Simunovic represented Croatia at youth level.

FIFA has approved a change of nationality for Croatia-born defender Jozo Simunovic to represent Bosnia-Herzegovina in their bid to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

World football's governing body informed the Bosnian federation on Tuesday that its players' status panel had granted the request.

Simunovic, 22, has Bosnian family roots but represented neighbouring Croatia at youth level.

He could switch teams under FIFA rules because he never played a competitive game for the senior Croatia team.
