Arsenal's Henrikh Mkhitaryan wins seventh straight Armenian Player of Year award

ESPN FC's Shaka Hislop takes a gander at the latest transfer rumours, featuring Aaron Ramsey, Alisson, Eden Hazard and more.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been named Armenia's Footballer of the Year for a seventh time in succession.

Arsenal midfielder Mkhitaryan won the vote by a huge margin, collecting 190 points, with second-placed Tigran Barseghyan, who plays in the Macedonian league, getting 35.

"It is a great honour because it means you've achieved something," the official Arsenal website reported him as saying.

"You've accomplished something important for the country and your followers. I am very happy to be the children's...

Germany maintain perfect campaign, Jermain Defoe strikes in England win

Germany survived a first-half wobble to defeat Azerbaijan 4-1 and maintain their 100 percent record in World Cup qualifying.

It seemed to be plain sailing for the 2014 winners when Andre Schurrle put the visitors ahead on 19 minutes, meeting Jonas Hector's pass to hit home, but Azerbaijan were soon back in it.

Dimitrij Nazarov's right-footed effort beat Bernd Leno to surprise the Group C heavyweights, but parity did not last long.

Schurrle found Thomas Muller and the Bayern Munich ace...

Gevorg Ghazharyan struck deep into injury time as Armenia fought back from two goals down to grab a dramatic 3-2 win over Montenegro in World Cup qualifying group E.

The visitors looked set to maintain their place at the top of the group after two goals in as many first-half minutes from Damir Kojasevic and Stevan Jovetic, the latter a delightful chip after a defensive error, put them in control in Yerevan.

But Armenia, without a point from their three previous games in the group, reduced the deficit...

Robert Lewandowski's injury-time winner gave Poland a 2-1 home victory over 10-man Armenia in their World Cup qualifier.

Armenia looked to have battled to a creditable draw having played since the 30th minute a man down following Gael Andonian's two yellow cards, and subsequent red.

Lewandowski had twice gone close in the first half but the Bayern Munich striker made the breakthrough two minutes after half-time, netting from close range following Lukasz Teodorczyk's headed assist. However, Marcos...

Romania cruised to their first win of the new World Cup qualifying campaign with a 5-0 win over 10-man Armenia in Yerevan.

The hosts' hopes were effectively dashed as early as the third minute when Gor Malakyan was sent off for clearing the ball off his line with his arm, and Bogdan Stancu put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot.

Romania, who drew their opening Group E game against Montenegro last month, doubled their lead after 10 minutes through Adrian Popa.

Razvan Marin and Nicolae Stanciu...
