Lukasz Piszczek extends Borussia Dortmund contract until 2020

Poland international Lukasz Piszczek has signed a new two-year deal at Borussia Dortmund, tying him to the club until 2020, and he hopes to end his career at the Westfalenstadion.

Piszczek, 32, is currently Dortmund's oldest outfield player. Having joined the club from Hertha Berlin in summer 2010, he was a key player earlier this decade during Dortmund's golden years under Jurgen Klopp.

He remains an influential player for the club -- and is apparently their good-luck charm. Dortmund have not lost a Bundesliga game in which he appeared since Nov. 26, 2016, winning 20 and drawing 11 after a 2-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt.

"Lukasz is a really extraordinary character. A player who absolutely wants to win on every occasion and even in the most difficult of conditions," sporting director Michael Zorc said in a statement. "He's an institution on the right side of our defence. It's not without reason that we're now unbeaten in the last 31 Bundesliga matches in which Piszczu has played."

Lukasz Piszczek signed a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund until 2020.

Having won two Bundesliga titles and two German cups with Dortmund, Piszczek hopes to end his career at the club he has called his home for nearly eight years.

"I might not be a Dortmund native, but I have grown so fond of this club and its fans over the years that I now feel like a true Borusse and have never felt any desire to leave BVB," Piszczek said. "I would like to finish my career in Dortmund and am looking forward to many, many more emotional moments in black and yellow."

Piszczek is expected to represent Poland at the World Cup in Russia.
