Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria joins Sunderland on loan

From Philippe Coutinho to Alexis Sanchez, Gab Marcotti assesses the notable transfers in January and which clubs profited most.
ESPN FC's Stevie Nicol assesses whether or not Liverpool are in need of striking reinforcements now that Daniel Sturridge has left on loan.
With Daniel Sturridge on his way to West Brom on loan, the FC crew ponder whether he can ever rediscover the form he displayed playing alongside Luis Suarez.

Sunderland have completed the loan signing of Liverpool youngster Ovie Ejaria.

Ejaria will spend the rest of the 2017-18 season in the Championship working under former Wales manager Chris Coleman.

The 20-year-old midfielder will be a direct replacement for Didier Ndong, who has joined Watford on loan, at the Stadium of Light.

"I'm really happy because I've wanted to go out on loan for a while to get regular first-team football under my belt," Ejaria said.

Coleman added: "Ovie is a talented young player with strength and imagination on the ball. He's here to join our fight and has shown me how motivated he is to be here -- and I'm sure he's ready for the challenges ahead."

Ejaria made eight first-team appearances for Liverpool last season, but has been playing for the club's Under-23s side this term.
