Leon Bailey unsure of Leverkusen future beyond summer amid Prem links

Leon Bailey has eight goals and five assists in the Bundesliga so far this season.

Leon Bailey will not commit his future to Bayer Leverkusen beyond this summer amid reported interest from the Premier League.

Bailey, 20, once again was the key player for Bayer Leverkusen as they beat Mainz 2-0 on Sunday.

At half-time the Jamaica under-23 international switched flankswith teammate Julian Brandt and, shortly after the restart, cut in from the right wing to fire home a long-range strike.

"You have more options on the right-wing as a left-footed player," Bailey said, explaining the switch after the match before elaborating on his future amid reports from England he could make a move to Chelsea during the final days of the transfer window.

"I can promise I will stay at Leverkusen this season," Bailey said on Sky, but refused to commit his future to the club beyond the summer, adding: "Who knows what will happen in the future."

Having moved to Leverkusen from Genk last January, Bailey needed time to adjust to Bundesliga, but has since turned himself into the league's breakout star. He has scored eight goals and set up a further eight.

And speaking to Express, his step-father and advisor Craig Butler said that the sky is the limit for the 20-year-old.

"I believe he can do much better," he said. "Leon's only at 30 percent right now."

"He is a super talent, and one day he will be the world's best player."
