Who's qualified for 2018 MLS Cup playoffs and who's been eliminated?

The Major League Soccer regular season is nearing its conclusion, which means clubs have their sights firmly set on qualifying for the MLS Cup playoffs, which begin on Oct. 31.

Ten teams have clinched a postseason berth, and another nine have already been eliminated, including defending champion Toronto FC. That leaves four clubs fighting for their right to extend their season beyond Decision Day on Oct. 28.

So, who's in? Who's out? Who has it all to play for?

- Latest MLS standings

Clinched playoff places (six per conference)

Eastern Conference: Atlanta United, New York Red Bulls, New York City FC, Philadelphia Union, D.C. United.

Western Conference: FC Dallas, Sporting Kansas City, LAFC, Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers.

Eliminated from postseason contention

East: Chicago Fire, Orlando City, Toronto FC, New England Revolution.

West: Colorado Rapids, San Jose Earthquakes, Minnesota United, Houston Dynamo, Vancouver Whitecaps.

Still in contention: East

  • Columbus Crew (48 points, 33 games played)
  • Montreal Impact (46 points, 33 games played)

Still in contention: West

  • Real Salt Lake (49 points, 34 games played)
  • LA Galaxy (48 points, 33 games played)

Who can clinch this weekend?

Columbus Crew SC will secure a postseason place with a win vs. Minnesota United OR a Montreal Impact loss or draw in New England. The Montreal Impact will be playoff bound with a win over the New England Revolution AND a Columbus loss to or draw with Minnesota.

The LA Galaxy have their fate in their own hands; a win over the Houston Dynamo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic & Co. confirm their playoff place. A draw or a loss would see Real Salt Lake, who have already played their 34 games and will be out of action on Decision Day, take the sixth and final place in the Western Conference playoffs.
