LAFC signs ex-United States youth international Josh Perez

Daniel Royer scored a goal in each half against LAFC to help the New York Red Bulls get back to winning ways.

Former U.S. youth international Josh Perez has signed with LAFC from Fiorentina. American Soccer Now's Brian Sciaretta was first to report LAFC's pursuit of Perez.

Perez, 20, spent parts of the last three seasons at Serie A side Fiorentina but made only one first-team appearance during that time.

He spent last season on loan at then-Serie C side Livorno, making 23 appearances and helping the club achieve promotion to Serie B.

Prior to joining Fiorentina, Perez spent time in the academy of now-defunct MLS club Chivas USA.

"Josh is a talented young forward with meaningful experience in Europe who will bolster our attacking options moving forward," said LAFC manager Bob Bradley.

Perez is the nephew of former U.S. international Hugo Perez and has played with various U.S. youth national teams. He made three appearances for the U.S. at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, a side that included current U.S. international Christian Pulisic.

Perez was left off the roster that played at the 2017 U-20 World Cup because of injury as well as the refusal of Fiorentina to release Perez for various U.S. U-20 national team camps.

The forward will join an LAFC side with plenty of attacking talent, including Mexico international Carlos Vela, Adama Diomande, Diego Rossi, and newly acquired striker Christian Ramirez.
