Landon Donovan and Club Leon are parting ways before the end of his contract, the club announced in a statement on Sunday.

Donovan came out of retirement for a second time in January to join the Liga MX club, but he didn't feature regularly for the club as Leon finished 13th in the 2018 Clausura standings.

The 36-year-old's contract ran through the end of 2018, but the announcement confirmed that he won't compete with the club in the upcoming Apertura this fall.

Philadelphia Union, Sporting Kansas City reach Open Cup quarterfinals

The Philadelphia Union beat the New York Red Bulls 2-1 on Saturday to advance to the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals.

Haris Medunjanin opened the scoring for the hosts with a shot from distance in the 52nd minute, and nine minutes later Cory Burke doubled the lead after getting behind the defense.

The Red Bulls halved the deficit when Alejandro Romero Gamarra played in Bradley Wright-Phillips in the 77th minute, but they could not find an equalizer.

Orlando City parts ways with manager Jason Kreis

Ignatio Piatti opened and closed the scoring in Montreal's comfortable 3-0 home win against Orlando City.

Orlando City has parted ways with manager Jason Kreis, the club announced on Friday afternoon.

Since starting the season 6-2-1, the Lions have lost six straight matches in Major League Soccer competition, occupying the Eastern Conference's final playoff place on a tiebreaker.

San Jose Earthquakes acquire defender Guram Kashia from Vitesse Arnhem

New England's unbeaten run improves to five matches as they secured a point in a 2-2 draw with San Jose.

The San Jose Earthquakes announced the acquisition of defender Guram Kashia from Vitesse Arnhem on Thursday.

Kashia, who is from the nation of Georgia, isn't eligible to play for San Jose until the secondary transfer window opens on July 10. The Earthquakes used targeted allocation money to obtain his services.

Kashia, 30, has been the captain of Vitesse, a top-level side in the Netherlands. He appeared for the club in six Europa League games last season, and he had three goals and an assist...
