Martin Odegaard shines as Norway and Sweden draw

Martin Odegaard created many chances but could not spark Norway to a win over neighbours Sweden.

Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard impressed but could not help Norway find a breakthrough in a goalless draw with Sweden on Monday.

The 16-year-old created multiple scoring chances and looked much more lively than Sweden star Zalatan Ibrahimovic, who missed an opportunity to score in the first half.

Norway striker Alexander Soderlund could have had a hat trick as the hosts had the better of the ball after half-time, though Sweden also came close in the closing minutes.

The last chance fell to Norway when Odegaard slipped Pal Helland through on a short lob, but he shot over the bar rather than passing to two teammates in the centre of the box.

Hakan Calhanoglu and Burak Yilmaz both recorded braces as Turkey cruised past Bulgaria 4-0 in Instanbul.

After leading the Bundesliga in goals from free kicks this season, Calhanoglu opened the scoring in the 49th minute with another blast from 30 yards.

He doubled Turkey's lead five minutes later, and Yilmaz tripled it two minutes after that.

Yilmaz added a second 10 minuets from time to complete the rout before Turkey's trip to face Kazakhstan in a Euro qualifier on Friday.

Viktor Fischer's penalty in the 86th minute was the difference as Denmark rallied from a goal down to defeat Montenegro 2-1.

Manchester City's Steven Jovetic opened the scoring for the visitors in the first half, and Denmark had to wait until the 70th minute to respond with a goal from Tottenham's Christian Eriksen.

Paul Fenech and Alfred Effiong scored in the second half as Malta controlled Lithuainia 2-0.

Bernard Mensa's 30-yard strike lifted Ghana over Togo 1-0. The Black Stars had to hold on at the end once Wakaso Mubarak was sent of for an elbow.

Goals from Ahmed Hassan Mekky and Mohamed El Gabbas guided Egypt to a 2-1 win over Malawi, Atusaye Nyondo adding a late consolation for the visitors.
