Socceroo Bruce Djite enters into unknown with PSM in Indonesia

PJ Roberts assesses if Rafael van der Vaart is suited for a move to Indonesian club Bali United.

Even for an unusually well-travelled footballer like Bruce Djite, who was born in the United States to African parents, a move to Sulawesi in Indonesia seems exotic. The K-shaped island is more than 1500 kilometres from Jakarta, and a long boat ride across the Java Sea to the holidaying Australians in Bali.

But the former Socceroo striker seems more than comfortable with his new life at PSM Makassar.

The club known as the Eastern Roosters finished third in last season's Liga One. And under Dutch...

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Danny Guthrie signs with Indonesia's Mitra Kukar

PJ Roberts assesses if Rafael van der Vaart is suited for a move to Indonesian club Bali United.

Former Newcastle United and Liverpool midfielder Danny Guthrie has joined Mitra Kukar in Indonesia's Liga 1, just after his ex-Reds' teammate Mohamed Sissoko left the club.

The Indonesian side confirmed the signing on their Facebook page, showing images of Guthrie undergoing his medical check.

Former Socceroo Bruce Djite signs with PSM Makassar in Indonesia

Former Socceroo striker Bruce Djite has joined Indonesia side PSM Makassar for the 2018 Liga One season, having last played for Suwon FC in South Korea.

The 30-year-old, who earned nine international caps between 2008 and 2010, will link up with Dutch coach Robert Alberts, a former junior with Eredivisie giants Ajax, after signing a two-year contract.

The United States-born forward will help PSM push for honours, and qualification for Asian competitions. They finished third in 2017 behind Bali United...

Indonesia need more superstars like Michael Essien for 2018 season

PJ Roberts assesses if Rafael van der Vaart is suited for a move to Indonesian club Bali United.

After making the 2016 final, Indonesia will fancy their chances at November's AFF Suzuki Cup, which will introduce a new home-and-away format for the group stage.

But ASEAN success is just one of the hopes for Southeast Asia's most populous nation.

Here are five 2018 football wishes for Indonesia.

1. More big names

The build-up to the 2017 Indonesia Liga One season was sent into the stratosphere by the arrival of five world stars. Michael Essien, Didier Zokora, Mohamed Sissoko, Peter Odemwingie,...

Brunei DPMM change mind about exiting S.League for 2018 season

Jason Dasey and John Wilkinson discuss the new rule that will make S.League sides more youthful and examine the future of the national team.

Brunei DPMM have backed down on their threat to quit the S.League after reports emerged that the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) were ready to relax some of the new restrictions imposed on them.

Last week, the 2015 champions had posted a message on their website, stating that they intended to join Indonesia's Liga 1 next season due to the regulations imposed by the FAS, which require strict quotas on age group and foreign players.

Singapore clubs are required to register at least six...
