Guinea: Gangan Kindia appoint Souare

FC Gangan Kindia appoint Mamadi 'Passarella' Souare

Guinean top flight side FC Gangan Kindia have announced the signing of ex-international Mamadi Souare as head coach, with the former national team boss replacing the departed Lounceny Mara.

Gangan currently sit 11th in the table and, having lost five of their last six, they parted ways with Mara last month and are in danger of making a swift return to the second tier.

Souare, who has been appointed provisionally until the end of the season, will be charged with securing that the Stade Fode Fissa outfit can preserve their top flight status according to club chief Banfa Diaby, speaking to CIS FM this week [as per Foot 224].

Gangan are currently five points clear of 13th-placed Soumba, who currently occupy the second of two relegation positions, while they are two points ahead of Fello Star in 12th.

Passarella's first match in the hotseat will be the home game against bottom club CO Coyah on Sunday, and he'll be desperate to take the opportunity to arrest Gangan's recent slump.

Souare has been out of work since leaving SAG de Siguiri in late 2016, and will surely relish the opportunity to return to Ligue 1 management.

Back in 2009, Souare was appointed national team boss, replacing Guinea legend Titi Camara, but lasted less than eight months before being replaced by Frenchman Michel Dussuyer.
