Ciro Immobile's brace lifts Dortmund into quarterfinals of German Cup

Ciro Immobile scored twice as Borussia Dortmund advanced to the quarterfinals of the DFB Pokal with a 2-0 win over third-division Dynamo Dresden on Tuesday.

Immobile notched two despite suffering a cut under his right eye in the first half, scoring in the 50th and 90th minutes.

The win did come at a cost though, as Marco Reus was taken off in the first half with a foot injury.

Dortmund star Marco Reus had to come off in the first half with a foot injury.

Bayer Leverkusen needed extra-time goals from Hakan Calhanoglu and Stefan Kiessling to beat second-division Kaiserslautern 2-0.

Leverkusen was eliminated by Kaiserslautern last season and only sealed victory when Kiessling pounced on a huge mistake by Kaiserslautern's defense.

Freiburg edged Cologne 2-1 in the only match between two Bundesliga clubs.

Freiburg scored two in as many minutes in the first half. The first came from a corner when Cologne striker Anthony Ujah put the ball into his own net. A minute later, Max Philipp fround Vladimir Darida on the break to put the hosts two up.

Darida then missed a second-half penalty and Acosta Deyverson got on the scoresheet for Cologne late in the game to keep their hopes alive, but Freiburg hung on.

Bundesliga mid-table club Hoffenheim had no such problems against 2.Bundesliga outfit Aalen, beating them 2-0 to advance to the last eight.

Eugen Polanski gave Hoffenheim a 15th-minute lead before Kevin Volland scored before the hour mark to settle things for the top-flight side.

Information from The Associated Press and Press Association was used in this report.
