World Cup Group H: Poland, Senegal, Colombia, Japan

The ESPN FC crew discuss the World Cup draw.
The ESPN FC crew discuss the World Cup draw.

Make no mistake: Group H is for hipster. This is an eclectic and very even group of teams with super middleweights in the form of Poland and Colombia and the not-to-be-underestimated in Senegal and Japan. It promises to be a load of fun.

Predicted finish

1. Poland -- There's more to Poland than Robert Lewandowski. This team has a very good spine in Wojciech Szczesny, Kamil Glik and Grzegorz Krychowiak and feels more complete than the rest.

2. Senegal -- Sadio Mane and Keita Balde Diao will frighten defences while at the other end Kalidou Koulibaly can do everything: defend, make plays, you name it.

3. Colombia -- To think it's nearly four years since James Rodriguez lit up the World Cup in Brazil. If he recovers that kind of form, they'd fancy themselves to challenge Poland for top spot.

4. Japan -- How odd that Vahid Halilhodzic thinks this Japan team is better without the two Shinjis: Okazaki and Kagawa. They're Japan's best players.

Must see match: Senegal vs. Colombia

Samara's Cosmos Arena will stage a game that promises to be out of this world on June 28 when Senegal take on Colombia. There are some great matchups all over the pitch. You've got two super centre-backs on either side, Davinson Sanchez and Koulibaly measuring themselves against Khouma Babacar and Radamel Falcao. Tricky wing play in the form of Juan Cuadrado and Diao. The effortless flair of James and breathtaking speed and power of Mane. The entertainment on offer will be hard to match in the group stages.

Robert Lewandowski will lead a Poland side into Group H, littered with some of world football's best middleweight teams.

X-Factor: Sadio Mane

You always want a team to come out of nowhere and surprise you at a World Cup. Senegal were that team in 2002, shocking holders France in the opening game. Manager Aliou Cisse was a member of that side. But this one looks better, particularly with Mane ascending to an altogether different level in the past 18 months. He can just run through defences.
