MANCHESTER -- Pep Guardiola could have once played for FA Cup opponents Wigan Athletic but he wasn't good enough, according to the Manchester City manager.

The Catalan takes City to the DW Stadium to face the League One side in the fifth round, 15 years after he nearly signed for Wigan.

Guardiola almost joined City as a player after a trial period under Stuart Pearce, but he joked that both clubs made the right decision to reject him.

"I wasn't good enough. That is the truth," he said at a news conference....

Jose Mourinho reflects on Man United's overall performance against Huddersfield, Romelu Lukaku's brace and more VAR controversy.

Paul Pogba was not playing well enough for Manchester United's reserves to warrant a place in the first team before Paul Scholes' comeback, according to the former midfielder.

Scholes' return to Old Trafford in January 2012 -- six months after retiring -- has been widely reported as the key reason behind Pogba's decision to quit United for Juventus at the end of the 2011-12 season.

But Scholes insists the Frenchman, now back at the club, did not deserve to be playing for the senior team at the time.

Mauricio Pochettino hopes Tottenham learned a lesson by going to a replay against Newport in the previous FA Cup round.
With Real Madrid and PSG circling, Paul Mariner and Mark Donaldson explain how important it is for Tottenham to tie Mauricio Pochettino down to a long-term deal.
Alejandro Moreno discusses Toby Alderweireld's growth at Tottenham and where he fits among the top centre-backs in world football.

Ryan Mason has told Sky Sports he would be open to returning to Tottenham in a coaching role.

Mason, who came through Spurs' academy system before leaving to join Hull in 2016, announced his retirement earlier this week when he was unable to recover from a skull fracture sustained in a Premier League game against Chelsea a year ago.

"I'm going to see what I fall into but if I was to go down the coaching route I spent 18 years at Tottenham and that's my club so I'm sure that would be in my DNA if...
