Fredy Montero got Sporting Lisbon back into things with an early goal vs. Atletico Madrid.
Fredy Montero was released by Sporting Lisbon on Friday and is set for a return to MLS.

Fredy Montero has signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps, the club announced on Friday, after being released by his former club Sporting CP.

Montero, 31, returns to MLS after spending last season with the Portuguese Liga side, where he scored three goals in 20 appearances.

The Colombian enjoyed a stellar year for Vancouver in 2017 when he led the team in scoring with 15 goals and six assists in 39 appearances across all competitions while on loan from Chinese Super League side Tianjin TEDA.

The Montreal Impact announced the acquisition of Canadian defender Zachary Brault-Guillard on loan from French side Olympique Lyonnais for the 2019 season.

The 20-year-old has captained Lyon's reserve squad since August 2018. He also wore the armband while playing on the club's Under-19 team.

Vancouver Whitecaps sign Tunisia international center-back Jasser Khemiri

Major League Soccer wasn't short of quite a few filthy moves against defenders and Ale Moreno ranks his top five this season.

The Vancouver Whitecaps added Tunisian center-back Jasser Khemiri, the team announced Friday.

Khemiri, 21, is the first player from Tunisia to be signed by an MLS club. He agreed to a three-year contract with a club option for 2022.

The Vancouver Whitecaps continued a busy offseason Wednesday by signing South Korean midfielder Hwang In-beom and veteran right-back Scott Sutter.

Expansion side FC Cincinnati selected UCLA midfielder Frankie Amaya No. 1 overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft on Friday.
