Football world mourns death of Sunderland fan Bradley Lowery, age 6

Jermain Defoe's no.1 fan Bradley Lowery has sadly passed following his brave battle with cancer.

After the heartbreaking death of 6-year-old Sunderland super fan Bradley Lowery, the entire football community is coming together to share their sympathies with Lowery's family.

His family posted the tragic news on social media on Friday, writing that Lowery had passed after his heroic battle with neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer.

The news was devastating to the football world, where Bradley found a place in the hearts of fans, players and teams across Britain and around the world. English...

Moyes faces a bleak future after his Sunderland reign ends in relegation

It has been reported that he refused a £3 million compensation payment.

Should he want to return to management, future options look barren, but there was no other choice to make. In his...

Contrast between top and bottom clear as Chelsea thrash Sunderland

David Moyes came up with an honest attempt to stop Antonio Conte's 3-4-3 system, but Chelsea still trashed his Sunderland team 5-1.

In a prelude to the title celebrations at Stamford Bridge, Sunderland lined up in a back three, as many have done against Chelsea this season, but with a twist: they used four central midfielders in order to ensure double cover near key men Eden Hazard and Willian.

It seemed a decent idea, particularly when Javier Manquillo put Sunderland ahead inside three minutes....

David Moyes and Sunderland's misery complete with shambolic relegation

With only six wins, Sunderland's bright spots -- like the first victory (2-1, on Nov. 5 at Bournemouth) and the astonishing-but-fluke hammering of Crystal Palace (4-0 on Feb. 4 at Selhurst Park) -- served only to encourage false hope this season.

Rating out of 10: 2

Highlight

It was not a season in which highlights seem appropriate to describe occasional saving graces, but on an individual level, two of the many players expected to leave Sunderland this summer brought smiles to supporters' faces.
