New Year hopes for South Africa's PSL clubs

As we enter 2018, KweséESPN picks out one big New Year wish for each of South Africa's clubs over the next 12 months.

AJAX CAPE TOWN

Ajax will be hoping that new coach Muhsin Ertugral can work his magic again, fourth time round, to see them clear of the relegation zone.

This could be his toughest job yet ...

AMAZULU

AmaZulu will be hoping to eke out a few more goals from their 'Golden Oldies', 40-year-old forward Siyabonga Nomvete and his 'baby' fellow striker, 35-year-old Mabhuti Khenyeza.

Doing...

Kaizer Chiefs confirm Leonardo Castro capture from Mamelodi Sundowns

Kaizer Chiefs have concluded the signing of Mamelodi Sundowns striker Leonardo Castro, the PSL giants confirmed on Saturday.

The move has long been anticipated, with the Colombian forward lacking game time at Sundowns as the goals dried up.

"Chiefs and Sundowns have finalised the agreement and Castro will join Chiefs in January," the AmaKhosi tweeted on their @KaizerChiefs handle.

He joins Venezuelan forward Gustavo Paez and former Bafana Bafana striker Bernard Parker as striking options at the...

Komphela unmoved by protests as Kaizer Chiefs reach for the Stars

There were more protests from Kaizer Chiefs fans at the end of Wednesday's 1-0 away defeat by Chippa United, but it looks unlikely that coach Steve Komphela will be going anywhere soon as he prepares to take his side to improving Platinum Stars in South Africa's Absa Premiership on Saturday.

Chiefs look poised to move in the January transfer and add at least one striker, which could be a game-changer for a side that creates chances, but has a difficulty in putting them away.

Nine goals conceded...

Abel Mabaso goal sinks Kaizer Chiefs as Chippa United move into second

An early strike from Abel Mabaso sealed a 1-0 victory for Chippa United over Kaizer Chiefs as the latter's Absa Premiership season lurched from bad to worse.

The victory for Chippa at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth was a deserved success and moves them into second place in the league, level with leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, though they have played three games more.

Chiefs are down in seventh, only three points behind Sundowns, but also having played three extra matches and, in truth,...

Who is really leading the charge in the PSL?

With the South African Premier Soccer League fixtures again thrown into a shambles by SuperSport United's run to the CAF Confederation Cup Final, it is tough to gauge just who is in command in the title race this season.

SuperSport have played half the number of matches (six) of leaders Baroka FC, and while there is something to be said for getting points on the board, it is clear that the Limpopo club are in something of a false position.

KweséESPN takes a look at the number of points per...
