LAFC picks Akron's Joao Moutinho with top pick in MLS SuperDraft

Former Akron University star Joao Moutinho says he's ecstatic about playing for Bob Bradley after being selected No. 1 overall by LAFC in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.
Bob Bradley discusses what it's been like putting a team together from scratch for the second time in MLS as LAFC continue preparing for their inaugural season.

LAFC selected a pair of full-backs with two of the first three picks in Friday's MLS SuperDraft for college players, starting with Akron's Joao Moutinho with the top selection.

But perhaps the biggest news to come out of the draft came when hosts Philadelphia Union sent $1.2 million in allocation to the Chicago Fire for winger David Accam.

Moutinho, who turned 20 last week, is primarily a left-back but can play in both defense and midfield. The Portugal native scored three goals with five...

Houston Dynamo add Darwin Ceren in trade with Earthquakes

Houston added to its midfielder with Darwin Ceren.

The Houston Dynamo acquired midfielder Darwin Ceren in a trade with the San Jose Earthquakes on Friday.

Ceren, the 28-year-old captain of El Salvador, had provided two goals and six assists in 75 regular-season MLS games in three seasons.

The Earthquakes will get $100,000 in general allocation money and $75,000 in targeted allocation money in exchange for Ceren.

"Darwin is a young, but experience and talented player," Dynamo coach Wilmer Cabrera said. "He will bring intensity, quality...

Houston Dynamo re-sign U.S. defender DaMarcus Beasley

DaMarcus Beasley will be back with the Dynamo in 2018.

The Houston Dynamo have re-signed U.S. international defender DaMarcus Beasley, the club announced on Thursday.

"We are extremely pleased to have DaMarcus return to the Houston Dynamo," Houston general manager Matt Jordan said of the signing.

"He is a true professional both on and off the field and an important leader in our group. It was important to bring him back as we look to build on the strong foundation we've built in preparation for the 2018 season."

Beasley, 35, joined the Dynamo from Mexican...

A.J. DeLaGarza signs deal to stay with Houston Dynamo

A.J. DeLaGarza will stay on for a second season with the Houston Dynamo.

The Houston Dynamo have agreed to a new contract with defender A.J. DeLaGarza, the club announced on Tuesday.

DeLaGarza, 30, was a free agent after the Dynamo declined his option for the 2018 season in December.

Terms were not disclosed, but his new deal will likely be worth less than the $250,000 he made last year, particularly as the Guam international will likely be sidelined until the summer after tearing the ACL in his right knee in the season finale.

DeLaGarza started 30 games last season...

Erick 'Cubo' Torres' move to Veracruz falls through - report

Cubo Torres became the first Mexican player to a record a hat trick in MLS in 20 years as Houston crushed the Red Bulls.

Erick Torres will not be joining Veracruz and will remain with the Houston Dynamo.

After several days of negotiations and with a deal expected to close on Monday, a source told ESPN Mexico that the teams couldn't reach an agreement to bring the Mexican striker back to Liga MX.

Torres, who will turn 25 later this month, notched 14 goals in 27 league appearances last season, five which came from the penalty spot.

Prior to 2017, Torres had struggled mightily in Houston, failing to score during both...
