Robin van Persie: 'I have to be honest with myself' in continuing career

Feyenoord's Robin van Persie
Robin van Persie returned to Feyenoord in January after nearly 14 years away from the club.

Robin van Persie told Dutch broadcaster NOS he will need to "be honest" with himself as he contemplates his future with his contract at Feyenoord set to expire after the season.

Van Persie, 34, returned to his first club in January after leaving Fenerbahce, where he had played since his departure from Manchester United in 2015.

He scored his side's second goal in a 3-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Cup final on Sunday and claimed his first major trophy in the Netherlands, but acknowledged...

Robin van Persie scored to lead Feyenoord to a 3-0 Dutch Cup win over AZ Alkmaar on Sunday.

The former Man United and Arsenal striker, back with the first team he played for in his senior career, put his team up 2-0 in the 57th minute.

Nicolai Jorgensen scored in the first half and Jens Toornstra added a third in second-half stoppage time to help the fourth-placed team in the Eredivisie earn silverware in an otherwise disappointing campaign.

Australia keeper Brad Jones gifts goal to FC Twente's Adam Maher

Feyenoord fans lit up their phones and sang "You'll Never Walk Alone" to honour Brad Jones' son, Luca, on the sixth anniversary of his death.

Fringe Socceroos goalkeeper Brad Jones will be hoping his clanger that gifted FC Twente a goal in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday does not ruin his World Cup chances.

The 36-year-old Feyenoord stopper was made to look foolish by attacker Adam Maher in Twente's equaliser.

With Feyenoord up 1-0 in the 22nd minute, Jones took possession from a back-pass deep in the box before attempting to pass to his defender only for Maher to intercept it and slot the ball into the net.

Jones, who played his first...

Dirk Kuyt
Dirk Kuyt ended his playing career at Feyenoord.

Former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt will become coach of Feyenoord's under-19s next season.

Kuyt, who ended his playing career in 2014 after a second spell at the Dutch club, has since been coaching with non-league side Quick Boys to gain experience.

He will be assisted at Feyenoord by Cor Adriaanse and told the club's official website: "I'm really looking forward to it.

"This season, I got to know the club from the other side with the help of technical director Martin van Geel.

Van Marwijk opts for Jones over Langerak in first Socceroos squad

Feyenoord fans lit up their phones and sang "You'll Never Walk Alone" to honour Brad Jones' son, Luca, on the sixth anniversary of his death.
ESPN FC's Shaka Hislop understands Mat Ryan's slow start with Brighton this season, and assesses how important he'll be for Australia at the 2018 World Cup.
Australia's new manager Graham Arnold discusses how proud is he to take over the coaching reigns after the World Cup.

Goalkeeper Brad Jones has returned from four years in the international wilderness as Bert van Marwijk finalises his first squad as Socceroos coach.

Van Marwijk has picked Jones ahead of fellow keeper Mitch Langerak in a 26-man squad for friendlies against Norway and Colombia later this month.

Stalwart Tim Cahill has been included despite limited game-time for Millwall while Czech Republic-based defender Aleksandar Susnjar has also survived van Marwijk's first cut.

The newly-appointed Dutch manager...
