FC Cincinnati selects UCLA's Frankie Amaya with top pick in MLS SuperDraft

Frankie Amaya is the youngest player in this year's draft.

Expansion side FC Cincinnati selected UCLA midfielder Frankie Amaya No. 1 overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft on Friday.

"This is what I worked my whole life for," Amaya told MLSSoccer.com at the draft in Chicago. "This is a crazy moment."

Amaya, 18, is the youngest player in the draft, but his upside is such that he's expected to adapt well to the professional game, even in a central playmaking role that is usually the domain of foreign players.

FC Dallas names academy director Luchi Gonzalez as new coach

FC Dallas has named club academy director Luchi Gonzalez as its new coach, the club announced on Sunday.

Gonzalez becomes the club's seventh boss in franchise history and takes over for Oscar Pareja, who moved on to Liga MX side Tijuana earlier this month.

At 38, he becomes the second-youngest manager in Major League Soccer. Terms were not disclosed.

Zac MacMath, Maxi Urruti among trades during half-day MLS window

Zac MacMath will leave the Colorado Rapids to join the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Zac MacMath, Maxi Urruti and Tesho Akindele were among the notable names swapping teams in Major League Soccer's half-day trade window on Sunday.

Following Saturday's MLS Cup final, teams are allowed to make trades with each other for one day only. Rosters have been frozen for the past three months, and after Sunday will open up again in January.

Mexico to play friendly at AT&T Stadium in June as part of four-year deal with Dallas

Mexico will play a tune-up in Dallas ahead of the Gold Cup in June.

The Mexico national team will play a match at AT&T Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys, on June 9, 2019, just days before the start of the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup. 

The Mexico national team made the announcement on Wednesday as part of a four-year deal to play matches and participate in community activities in Dallas, along with FC Dallas, the Cowboys and the Dallas Sports Commission.
