Socceroos winger Daniel Arzani has gone under the knife in Spain after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during his senior debut for Scottish side Celtic.

The 19-year-old appeared to come out of surgery not long after Australia beat Lebanon 3-0 at Sydney's ANZ Stadium on Tuesday night in their final hitout before next year's Asian Cup.

Arzani will play no part in the Socceroos' 2015 title defence in the United Arab Emirates and is likely to have nine months of rehabilitation ahead of him.

Manchester City's Daniel Arzani has confirmed he requires a knee reconstruction after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

The injury rules Arzani out of Australia's Asian Cup defence next January and the rest of the European season, where he is on loan at Celtic.

"This is also a very tough time for me as I received the bad news today that I will indeed need an ACL op [operation]," Arzani posted on Instagram on Tuesday after visiting a knee specialist in Spain.

Celtic to launch investigation after five injured during Old Firm derby

Celtic have apologised and promised a full investigation after five people were injured trying to get into Celtic Park for the Old Firm derby on Sunday.

Supporters were photographed climbing over fences in order to be in the stadium for the game, which Celtic won 1-0.

Police told the BBC that one person was taken to hospital after falling from a wall along Janefield Street.

Celtic attributed the incident to a change in crowd control measures designed to allow Rangers fans access to the visitors'...
