Leicester City have had an improved bid of £15 million rejected by Brentford for defender Chris Mepham, sources have told ESPN FC.

Mepham is regarded as one of the best young defenders outside the Premier League after impressing for Brentford during the last 12 months.

The 20-year-old was rewarded for his fine form for Brentford by breaking into the Wales side under new manager Ryan Giggs, making his debut in March.

A number of clubs have been tracking Mepham during this summer's transfer window...

Brentford and Hull shared the Sky Bet Championship spoils in a well contested clash between two sides with nothing to play for.

The Bees broke the deadlock after 12 minutes at Griffin Park when the Hull defence failed to deal with a cross from the right and the ball found its way to Sergi Canos, whose glancing header crept inside the far post.

But Hull's goal in the 1-1 draw came almost on the stroke of half-time when Jarrod Bowen steered former Bee Jon Toral's headed pass just inside the upright.

Barnsley defied the form book to boost their hopes of avoiding relegation with a stunning 2-0 victory over promotion-chasing Brentford.

Kieffer Moore scored the opener after 11 minutes before Oliver McBurnie headed in the second six minutes after the break in what might have been his last home appearance for the Tykes.

The home side had lost more points from winning positions at home than any other side before the game, but they held on to end their run of four games without a win.

The victory was...

Brentford moved to within a point of the Championship play offs with a pulsating 2-1 win over west London derby rivals QPR.

Goals in either half from Sergi Canos and Florian Jozefzoon were enough to clinch the three points after Idrissa Sylla had given Rangers hope with an equaliser just before the break.

The Bees took the lead in the 16th minute when Rangers failed to clear a corner and Canos rifled the ball into the roof of the net from five yards.

The visitors hit back in first half added time with...

A stoppage-time header from substitute Neal Maupay earned Brentford a 1-1 draw at local rivals Fulham to severely dent the Cottagers' automatic promotion hopes and send Wolves up in the process.

Aleksander Mitrovic looked to have won it for Fulham when he swept home in the 70th minute.

But Maupay nodded past Marcus Bettinelli in the fourth minute of time added on to secure the Bees a point and maintain their slim play-off hopes.

The draw leaves Fulham in third, a point off second-placed Cardiff, who...
