Portsmouth fan dies after falling ill at preseason friendly

A Portsmouth fan died after falling ill at the League One's club's preseason friendly against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The second half was delayed while medical staff assisted the man at Fratton Park, and the hosts confirmed the death after the game.

Harry Arter to sign four-year deal to remain at Bournemouth

The midfielder has committed his future to the Cherries until 2021, the club have announced.

Arter only signed a fresh three-year deal last summer following the club's first season in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old, who joined from Woking in 2010, told the club's official site: "Once I heard the club wanted to give me a new deal, it was a pretty easy decision.

"The team has been successful over the last few years and you want...

Jermain Defoe's time in North America was so brief that he may not have understood Major League Soccer, let alone Major League Baseball. He left Toronto FC in 2014 after making 19 appearances and scoring 11 goals so quickly that he probably never got a taste for the city's baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays.

Yet he may be football's equivalent of a baseball player. Not on the sporting field but on the balance sheet. Even as Defoe's return to his homeland helped revive an international career that...

TBD
Connor Mahoney is looking forward to working with Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe.

Bournemouth have announced the signing of winger Connor Mahoney after his Blackburn contract expired.

Mahoney, a 20-year-old former England youth international, has signed a four-year deal and will initially join the Cherries' development squad.

Due to his age, Blackburn are entitled to a fee which will be determined by a tribunal if they cannot reach an agreement with their Premier League counterparts.

A boyhood Blackburn fan, Mahoney was one of the club's bright sparks at the back end of last...
