Mexico legend Marquez out as Atlas director

Atlas' Rafa Marquez says he will continue working in football after parting ways with the club on Wednesday.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico -- Mexico legend Rafa Marquez is out as Atlas sporting director following the takeover of the Liga MX club by Orlegi Sports.

Marquez announced his departure in a statement, thanking fans and confirming that he'll continue to work in the game.

"My desires in this moment are to continue preparing myself in different areas of this sport, which I'm passionate about and has given me so much," read the statement.

Liga MX to announce 'binational' tournament

As MLS and Liga MX mull a new tournament like the SuperLiga of the mid-2000s, Taylor Twellman says the time is right for a new competition.

Liga MX will announce a "binational" tournament "in coming weeks," according to a statement from the league at the club owners' meeting on Monday.
