Coutinho's rift with Klopp at Liverpool may open door for Barcelona move
With the January window on the horizon, there's plenty brewing in the transfer market. All the latest deals and potential deals can be found here.
Barcelona ready fresh Coutinho offer
The saga continues as Barcelona seemingly are set to rekindle their mischief and lure Philippe Coutinho away from Liverpool after last summer's squabble.
Sport reports the Blaugrana will make a new €120 million (£106m) offer for the Brazilian, who is currently nursing a calf problem.
The report details how Barca are keen to acquire the 25-year-old in January, though the Reds' potential involvement in the Champions League knockout stages could complicate the matter.
Jurgen Klopp reportedly has a strained relationship with Coutinho and it remains unclear how the German will be affected should the Merseysiders reluctantly agree to sell their talisman.
Earlier on Wednesday, Luis Suarez said he thought Coutinho would make a big impact were he to sign for Barcelona and praised the playmaker's professionalism following his failed summer move to the Camp Nou.
Chelsea plan Barkley, Benteke moves in January
Antonio Conte will be backed in January by Chelsea for a double swoop involving Ross Barkley and one of their top striker targets, reports the Mirror.
The Everton midfielder nearly joined the Blues in the summer, but an injury forced him to reconsider and the deal was scuppered at the 11th hour.
Christian Benteke is one of the better options to boost Conte's strike force, though it remains to be seen whether Crystal Palace will be reluctant to sell because of their relegation battle or eager to cash in to rejuvenate the rest of their squad.
Red Star hit man Richmond Boakye is seen as an alternative as the champions look to succeed in the transfer market without recently departed technical director Michael Emenalo.
Arsenal set Ozil price for Mourinho
Mesut Ozil's Arsenal departure could be sealed in January if a club meets the £30m asking price for the Germany international, according to the Star.
The Gunners will need to be careful in negotiations with the risk of the former Real Madrid star walking away for nothing next summer.
While Arsenal could be open to a similar deal to recoup some money for Alexis Sanchez, Arsene Wenger is eager to find a swap deal for the Chile international.
A swap with PSG for Julian Draxler, who is highly rated by the Frenchman, could be the ticket, though Sanchez's desire to move to Manchester City could block such a deal.
Aguero plans Independiente swansong
Manchester City's all-time leading scorer Sergio Aguero is plotting a fairy-tale ending to his career with boyhood club Independiente with the Argentina international detailing his plan to leave the club in 2019.
City would lose Aguero for nothing when his contract expires, though his legendary status at the Etihad will almost certainly prevent the club from pushing him out the door earlier.
Man City maintain they have the option to extend Aguero's stay until 2020, but the player's will could make the difference with El Rojo unlikely to be able to afford a portion of the player's wages and a significant transfer fee.
Pep Guardiola has welcomed back Aguero into his starting lineup with the Albiceleste star preferred to Gabriel Jesus in recent weeks.
- Juventus have identified three star players to strengthen their squad, according to Tuttosport. The Old Lady will look to snap up two bargains in Emre Can and Faouzi Ghoulam, with their Liverpool and Napoli contracts expiring next summer.
The Algerian left-back is out for the season because of knee ligament damage, but Juve are still keen.
The most ambitious target of the trio is box-to-box midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, though Lazio will demand a fortune for one of Europe's most exciting young players.
- Tuttosport reports PSG are interested in Joao Mario with the Portuguese unhappy in Milan with Inter. The 24-year-old cost £36m in 2016 but has grown dissatisfied with his lack of playing time under Luciano Spalletti.
The former Sporting star could move to Paris, with the Ligue 1 club reportedly set to contact the Nerazzurri, who are prepared to "listen."
- Los Angeles FC is on the verge of signing Penarol striker Diego Rossi Marachlian, sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.
A source cautioned that a contract has not been signed yet, but that LAFC had agreed to pay a transfer fee of around $3 million to acquire the Uruguayan youth international.
