England fans don't let wedding season stop them from following England-Sweden match

Three Lion supporters Nadine and Lee Hanlon were not going to miss England-Sweden even on their wedding day.
Nadine and Lee Hanlon were not going to miss England-Sweden despite it being their wedding day.

With the summer comes warm weather, and with warm weather comes wedding season. Everyone getting married wants good photos, and a sunny day is usually the desired backdrop -- even if it forces men to sweat it out in their suits and tuxedos and women to heat up in their gowns!

When planning a wedding, Saturday, July 7, seemed like a decent date to get hitched in England. One problem: the World Cup quarterfinals.

Considering England's recent woes, maybe these couples figured incorrectly that England would be out of the tournament by now. Whatever the case, on Saturday their love for their spouses, friends and families and their beloved Three Lions was matched up against each other.

With this Saturday being such a popular wedding day throughout the country, thousands in England were forced to find creative ways to follow England's highly anticipated quarterfinal matchup with Sweden.

We have all been there at some level: you have a wedding going up against a big sporting event you are overly invested in. But a World Cup quarterfinal and the chance to reach the semis for the first time since 1990 is a different beast altogether. That was the dilemma facing many in England on Sunday.

Here's how our friends in England navigated the tricky situation, some more discretely than others.

Some relied on loved ones for score updates ...

Others prayed for good cell service ...

Some streamed the game from the church ...

Others from the reception ...

Others -- with the bride's approval we hope -- used a projector screen ...

But the best we saw today? How about a live scoreboard on the altar. Now that is resourceful!

In less than ideal circumstances it looks like most England fans were creative enough to find a way to follow the match.

And with England winning, it was a happy ending for all who watched ... oh, and the couples getting married of course.
