Malaysia slide below Singapore to record low of 174th in FIFA rankings

After Malaysia failed to win a single game in 2017, Jason Dasey and John Wilkinson assess Nelo Vingada's future.

Malaysia's miserable year got even worse as they fell four places, below Singapore, and dropped to an all-time low FIFA ranking of 174.

The Harimau Malaya have failed to win a single match in 2017 and recently suffered back-to-back 4-1 defeats to North Korea to crash out of contention in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

The Koreans rose a remarkable 18 places and now sit above all Southeast Asian nations on 114.

The appointment of Nelo Vingada as Malaysia's head coach in May -- handpicked by...

Bert van Marwijk turns down Saudi Arabia return for World Cup

The FC crew aren't sure what to make of Ange Postecoglou's decision to quit as coach of Australia.

2010 World Cup finalist Bert Van Marwijk has rejected what would have been a dramatic return to Saudi Arabia just two months after leaving his post as head coach of the national team.

The Dutchman, appointed in Sept. 2015, guided the Green Falcons through qualification for the 2018 World Cup in September, but within days had been released by the Saudi Arabia Football Federation (SAFF).

He was immediately replaced by Edgardo Bauza of Argentina. After Bauza was fired on Wednesday following poor performances...

Will Shinji Kagawa, Keisuke Honda, and Shinji Okazaki return for 2018 World Cup for Japan?
Rafael Silva's strike helped Urawa Reds defeat Shanghai SIPG to make the AFC Champions League final.
Jason Dasey and John Wilkinson preview Shanghai SIPG's second-leg clash against Urawa Reds in the AFC Champions League semifinals.

Urawa Red Diamonds' hopes of claiming their first AFC Champions League (ACL) crown in a decade were given a boost after Al Hilal's influential Brazilian midfielder Carlos Eduardo was ruled out for Saturday's game with a serious knee injury.

Eduardo scored seven goals in this year's campaign as the Saudi Arabian side advanced to their second final in four seasons. He hurt his knee in the build up to the goal Urawa scored at the King Fahd International Stadium in a 1-1 draw in the opening leg that...

Safuwan Baharudin an asset to Pahang says captain Matt Davies

John Wilkinson and Jason Dasey discuss Luciano Figueroa's comeback for JDT as well as Hariss Harun's return from loan.

Pahang have welcomed Singapore international defender Safuwan Baharudin to their squad as they look to challenge four-time defending Malaysia Super League (MSL) champions Johor Darul Taz'im (JDT) in 2018.

It marks a return to the MSL for Safuwan who spent this year in the Malaysian Premier League with PDRM FA, following last year's relegation.

"I am very happy that Safuwan has joined us for the 2018 season," Pahang's Australian-born captain Matt Davies told ESPN FC.

"I've played against him several...

Hariss Harun, Stipe Plazibat prepare for Home Utd exits in Singapore Cup

Jason Dasey and Dez Corkhill reflect on Albirex Niigata's campaign after they clinched a second straight S.League title.

Hariss Harun and Stipe Plazibat will represent Home United for a final time when the Protectors take on Hougang United in the 2017 Singapore Cup third-place playoff at Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday.

The duo have performed integral roles in a mostly thrilling year for the club. They went all the way to the ASEAN zonal final of the AFC Cup and finished in the top three for the first time since 2013.

After some commanding displays for Home in central midfield and defence since coming on loan in March,...

Jason Dasey and John Wilkinson break down the keys to Buriram United's success atop the Thai Premier League table.

Myanmar striker Aung Thu has become the latest player to benefit from the Thai League's (T1) new ASEAN player quota by joining Police Tero.

The 21-year-old leaves Myanmar champions Yadanarbon, a year after he was first linked with a move to Thailand.

The move was confirmed on the Thai League website after reports that a deal had been reached came out of Myanmar.

Tero -- previously known as BEC Tero Sasana -- will be hoping that the striker can lift the attacking prowess of a side who scored just...
