The Congo draw and the lessons Chidzambwa would have learnt

Zimbabwe's quest for a ticket to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon remains right on track after round two of the qualifiers, with Sunday's 1-1 draw away to Group G rivals Congo enabling the Southern Africans to remain top ahead of the Democratic Republic of Congo on goal difference.

Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat had put Zimbabwe ahead on 22 minutes in Brazzaville, only for Turkey-based star Thievy Bifouma to level matters five minutes after the break and ensure a share of the...

Depleted Morocco show AFCON title credentials

While many of Africa's giants struggled this weekend, Morocco overcame several key absentees and squad disharmony to prove why they ought to be considered favourites for next year's Africa Cup of Nations.

Of the heavyweights set to compete for the continental crown in Cameroon, Nigeria and Egypt also picked up big wins - the latter in some style - but the rest struggled through testing weekends.

One person has died and at least 40 have been injured in a stampede outside the Mahamasina Stadium, Antananarivo ahead of Madagascar's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Senegal on Sunday.

Madagascar, ranked 107th in the world, fell behind when Moussa Konate put the Teranga Lions into the lead with a fine individual goal just before the half-hour mark.

Kenya defeat must be a wakeup call for Ghana - Kwadwo Asamoah

Ghana's 1-0 defeat by Kenya in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying on Saturday must be a 'wakeup call' for the Black Stars, according to returning midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah.

Kwesi Appiah's side fell behind in the 40th minute in the Kasarani Stadium after Nicholas Opoku's own goal, and even though the hosts were reduced to 10 men following Joash Onyango's sending off, they weren't able to equalise.

The victory was Kenya's first competitive triumph over the Black Stars and only their second win against...
