Morocco offer complete AFCON backing to Cameroon

Morocco have confirmed that they are willing to offer any support to Cameroon for the hosting of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, but have quashed any suggestion that they are looking to replace the Central Africans as hosts.

Fouzi Lekjaa, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation President, moved to end speculation regarding next year's event during a press conference at the Movenpick Hotel in Marrakech during the ongoing CAF Women's Football Symposium.

The hosting of the 2019 AFCON has become a contentious...

U-20 AFCON Qualifiers: Nigeria, Morocco set for collision course

Either Nigeria or Morocco will not be present at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Niger following Monday's draw.

The Confederation of African Football revealed the draw for the qualifiers on Monday, with the two giants - who met in the African Nations Championship final earlier this month - set to miss out on the U-20 showpiece.

Cameroon must improve efforts to secure AFCON 2019, urges Ahmad

CAF President Ahmad Ahmad has warned Cameroon that they must step up their preparation if they're to retain hosting rights for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

Speaking at the Caf 40th Ordinary General Assembly in Casablanca on Friday, Ahmad confirmed that,...

A Cameroon fan enjoys the match atmosphere prior to a FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017 Group B match.
Cameroon hosts the African Cup of Nations next year.

Cameroon has been given the go-ahead to continue preparations to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), easing fears that it will not be ready in time.

Last summer, Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Ahmad Ahmad challenged Cameroon to show it would complete preparations to stage the event, taking place from June 7 to July 7 next year.

But following an inspection tour of tournament facilities and infrastructure by CAF experts last month, a positive preliminary report was presented...

Africa's biggest footballing disappointments of 2017

2017 was a memorable year in the African game, with Cameroon ending their considerable wait for a continental crown, and Issa Hayatou's long tenure as CAF chief coming to an end.

Ahmad Ahmad took the reins of the African game's governing body, while the likes of Mohamed Salah, Thomas Partey and Hakim Ziyech have seen their stock climb after fine campaigns.

However, it hasn't been a year of undiluted success and achievement, with many elements of the continent's game flattering to deceive.

In this...
