Ong Kim Swee's AFC U23 heroes prove Malaysia doubters wrong

ESPN's Jason Dasey and Dez Corkhill share their thoughts of Johor Darul Ta'zim's tour of Thailand and their AFC Champions League chances.
Jason Dasey and John Wilkinson assess the 2018 hopes of Vietnam, Philippines and Myanmar.
Gaining glory for Vietnam wasn't easy for Le Cong Vinh, who's passion for football has been in his soul since a young age.

Ong Kim Swee hasn't had an easy ride over the last 18 months. Derided and discarded, he could afford himself a quiet smile after arriving home to plaudits and applause in Kuala Lumpur.

The irony won't be lost on the man deemed unworthy of Malaysia's senior national team by one of his fiercest critics in Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ), the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president. Having been demoted by TMJ in March last year, Ong has steered the under-23 team to one of the finest results...

Azkals must qualify for Asian Cup, keep Thomas Dooley in 2018

Jason Dasey and John Wilkinson assess the 2018 hopes of Vietnam, Philippines and Myanmar.

Since the turn of the decade, the Philippines have made an ever-growing impact on the game at regional level, with the country's clubs carving a name for themselves for the first time in 2017 in the AFC Cup.

As the country's profile continues to grow, here are five Philippines football wishes for 2018.

1. Qualify for the Asian Cup

The Azkals stand on the verge of qualifying for their first-ever Asian Cup finals, four years after narrowly missing out on a place in 2015.

V. Sundramoorthy to 'track' Singapore internationals abroad in 2018

As a dismal 2017 for Singapore football draws to a close, John Wilkinson joins Jason Dasey to reveal his hopes for 2018.

Singapore head coach V. Sundramoorthy is set to rack up plenty of air miles in the year ahead as he monitors the Lions' overseas talent before the AFF Suzuki Cup kicks off in November.

The close season has seen an exodus of much of Singapore's finest talent as they fill the new ASEAN quota slots in the Malaysia Super League (MSL) and the Thai League.

On Friday, winger Faris Ramli is expected to become the latest Singaporean star to quit the S.League to sign with PKNS in the MSL.

Vietnam need to win AFF Suzuki Cup, modernise V.League in 2018

Jason Dasey and John Wilkinson assess the 2018 hopes of Vietnam, Philippines and Myanmar.

The nation Vietnam is at an important point in its football journey as it seeks to fulfil its vast potential.

At youth level, the Vietnamese national team are enjoying a golden period by achieving results that were unheard of a few years ago.

However, it is important to capitalise on this success. The nation of nearly 100 million people loves football and there is very little competition for media coverage or potential sponsorship.

Some great work is being done by the Vietnamese Football Federation...
